Happy reminders at Positive Cafe, Versailles! |
Travelling to Paris in August is great - Parisians are on holiday so the city is less crowded (in terms of both people and cars), and you still get to experience the tail-end of summer. Perhaps less good though is the summer closure of (lots) of fabulous vegan restaurants who are on holiday.
Here are a list of places I'd planned to go to, but were closed over summer (despite Google telling me they were open...)
- Crêperie Rozell Café (all vegan crepes! Savoury and sweet)
- Le Potager de Charlotte (two restaurants, serves brunch, lunch and dinner)
- VG Patisserie (all vegan patisserie)
Note: if you visit restaurants that are part of a larger chain e.g.,
Le Pain Quotidien, one shop may be closed but that doesn't necessarily mean all the restaurants are closed. Handy hint!
Le Pain Quotidien

Le Potager du Marais $$$
Traditional French food, veganised! Serving lunch and dinner. Best to get in early as many people book tables!
- Address: 24 Rue Rambuteau 75003 Paris
- Opening Hours: 12:00 - 15:00 and 19:00 - 22:30
I ordered a French stew - with mushrooms, carrots and red wine served with potato (€ 18)
And for dessert chocolate mousse (€ 7)

Abbatoir Végétal $$ - $$$
- Address: 61 Rue Ramey, 75018 Paris
This place honestly surprised me so much - the food is presented so aesthetically, its gorgeous to look at and flavourful too. I managed to get a table outside since the inside of the restaurant was fully booked out - so either get there early or late if you'd like to be seated inside!
I ordered the Hummus Plate (€15) which was a starter (but was much larger than I anticipated) and the Eggplant Roti (€16).
|
Planche de L'ete - regular and beetroot hummus with baba ganoush, served with salad, tomato and rockmelon and bread on the side |
|
Demi Aubergine Rotie |
Le Faitout $$ - $$$
Le Faitout is kind of like a bar, pub, restaurant and cafe all melded into one great place to eat. The menu is fully vegan and they have a range of
fabulous fake cheese and meats.
This place is great to go for dinner and especially Sundays (since it's open late) with friends - grab a bunch of tapas and mains to share!
- Address: 23 Avenue Simon Bolivar, 75019 Paris
- Opening hours: 16:00 - 01:00, closed Mondays
|
Kimchi |
|
Complimentary bread! |
I ordered the vegan cheese board and mushroom pasta but fellow travelling friends who I met in France ordered the other dishes!
|
Mushroom pasta 15 |
Toutofu $$ - $$$
|
Starter: tofu and seaweed salad 6 Euros |
|
Warming noodle soup 12.90 Euros |
|
Dessert: "volcano soy cake drenched in matcha" 4 Euros |
Bodhi Vegan $$ - $$$
This place was one of my favourite restaurants - the food was delicious, authentic and at a reasonable price. The staff don't speak much English but you can definitely get by!
