Fengsson Dumpling House $ - $$
I was Googling around for vegan/vegetarian friendly Asian-styled restaurants and came across this little place. It's a small shop with a clean interior and a small menu. Staff are mostly Swedish speaking and there is a very limited English menu at the front counter. All I understood in English were the range of dumplings available (even the Trip Advisor sign was in Swedish!)
Opening Hours:
- Monday - Friday @ 11:00 - 19:30
- Saturday @ 12:00 - 19:30
Interior:
View of the water/cutlery/drinks station and payment counter from my seat
An example of another table setting
My cosy corner! Comes with a bag space too
The Menu:
10 dumplings = SEK69
15 dumplings = SEK 79
- Pork dumplings
- Vegetarian dumplings
- Chicken dumplings
Served with rice noodles or plain white rice and a choice of 5 different sauces. From memory there was original soy, sweet chilli, soy sauce with chilli (mild) and soy sauce with chilli (spicy). Free lemon water or regular water with all meals.
The service is a little brash but it's quick and the food is hot. The vegetarian dumplings were disappointing (I was expecting more greens, chives and/or ginger and steamed rather than fried, but they were mostly plain flavoured with lettuce or cabbage with corn kernels on the inside). The portion of rice and noodles were generous and I sat in a cosy corner next to the payment counter where the water refills were.
I probably wouldn't recommend Fengsson Dumpling House if you're vegan/vegetarian and looking for Asian eats - I think you'd be better off either finding something at ICA to steam at home, going to a slightly more expensive place (like fusion Asian food) or heading to Malmo.
