Love me some Swedish pride!
Schedule:
Today I slept through my alarm and missed the Organ Concert held at Lund Cathedral (starting at 10:00). Luckily though, they run the concert every week so I'll definitely do my best to make the next one! I needed the extra sleep AHAHA
It also snowed quite a lot this morning so I decided to walk instead of bike to Wermlands. It's a 7 minute bike ride (but double or even triple the time for me since I've got to stop and navigate and I'm also quite slow at biking around still) or a 25 minute walk. Not going to increase the chances of me crashing or falling off my bike!
Spotted on my walk: a mini Snowman!
I took a walk through the Botanical Gardens of Lund - there's not much to see because of the snow but it was like wandering through your classic wintry wonderland since there weren't any other people out. It's kinda cool (both literally and as an expression of wonder!) to see the water frozen over and hearing the crunch of your footsteps.

Wermlands Frunch (Novisch Table) 12:00 - 14:00, SEK55
Make sure you arrive early for the buffet frunches provided by Wermlands nation! They cater to about 40 people, and since it's a buffet once you're seated you can go up and have seconds, thirds or however many rounds of extra food you want.
The entrance to the basement is to the right of the (back) entrance to the nation's office - look for the stairs heading down but the door should be open like so:
Entrance to the basement
When you see the poster board just go right through the black door and you'll find the buffet and seating area!
Guacamole (this is spicy!)
Pico de Gallo (Mexican for salsa fresca!)
Lemon cake - just the right amount of lemon and coconut, it was delicious! I had 4 slices
My first round of food - I was quite modest with the portions, but then again I went back for seconds when they put out a salad and had more mains plus fourths of dessert. The main (which I didn't manage to get a photo of) is: sweet potato with onion, garlic, paprika and cumin!
Exploring Lund: Central Square 13:30 - 16:00
(Yep, you guessed it! I bailed on the SUSA exam... I had an Ali Wong moment and thought to myself, "I have suffered enough"). So instead I chose to wander through the main boulevards and poke around in the shops at Lund Central!
Giant hammock
A friend of mine and myself walked towards Central Square following the Frunch and ran into this kind of demo - a giant hammock and fire setup. It turned out to be a local scout group giving out free hot chocolate (or warm sweet juice) and biscuits to promote the work of the scouts, encourage more members to join and serve as a community initiative to entice more people out of their homes in winter.
I forgot to check but the hot chocolate was made from cow milk which was a bit unfortunate but the alternative was a sweet lingonberry (at least it tasted like lingonberry!) juice :)
Now this is real Scouts! You can even see the children chopping wood from the IKEA bag in the background.
Hot chocolate and myself warming up by the fire!

Shopping: Lindex
My first stop was a pyjamas / underwear type of shop to just have a browse at their warm nightwear apparel. I spotted these tights for sale - down from SEK149 and when I paid at the counter they were reduced even further to SEK37.50! Yay! I'm already excited to break out more spring/summery clothing.
Afterwards I just took a walk around doing some window shopping. Most of the boutique shops in Lund (in terms of warm, knitted and fluffy looking apparel) are quite expensive - ranging from SEK600 - SEK1700, at least from my browse.
Haha - what a fun store name
I discovered this cutesy looking shop called Lagerhaus - it's almost like a cuter version of IKEA? There's everything there from home furnishings (kitchen towels, cutlery, trays, rugs) to party accessories, birthday cards, keep cups, wrapping paper, bedding throws and lunchboxes. They're even bringing out a Valentine's Day exhibit where I spotted their (exceptionally clever) marketing (to a chronic tea drinker like me!)
I didn't end up buying anything from here but I've got my eyes on this (random) leaf rug? Which I had that instant gut reaction of "I want it" but then the adult rationalisation of "it looks nice but what are you going to do with this," and "will it match with anything back home...?" [Adult me is a downer. A practical, money-saving downer].
I just took a break from writing to browse through the Lagerhaus website and had to include a picture of the goddamn leaf rug below: (it's official name is Mat [carpet] FOLIUM, 100cm x 92cm, SEK199 on sale. Regular price SEK299).
I also found this freaking adorable kitchen towel?? I think it's something about the Swedish aesthetic that they target at children than makes me want to rip my card out of my wallet, wave it around and yell "Just take my money!!!" and having a single tear roll down the side of one cheek at every purchase.
Kitchen towel TOAST, 50cm x 70cm, SEK19 on sale, SEK39 regular price
GodDAMN this company and it's incredible aesthetic choices. Also read up on their environmental ethics here!! ...Ah, I have well and truly gone down the rabbit hole. Moving on!
Last but far from the least, I spotted this adorable chocolate Labrador having a small snooze by the heaters inside this thrift store book section. She sat up when I came closer and I managed to get this stunning photo of her expressive eyes! How adorable! <3
I really enjoy walking around Lund and getting to know the streets this way. One of the more pleasant things in life is to just slow down a little and take a bit more time to pace around and open your mind! You never know what you might discover. I think my highlight was seeing the choc Lab! And browsing around Lund. What a fantastic Saturday!
