Ebbas Skafferi $ - $$
I found out about this delightful cafe through one of my International Mentors who mentioned she had a sweet tooth and knew where the best places in Lund are for desserts! We met to catch up over some of the sweet treats here.
Address: Bytaregatan 5, 222 21 Lund
Opening Hours: Monday - Sunday @ 10:00 - 20:00
The (Sweets/Dessert) Menu: Unfortunately there isn't an English menu for dessert (or proper meal food for that matter...) but the staff are very approachable and friendly, who speak impeccably English! The sweets selection are mostly made up of Kladdkaka, a type of sticky, dense chocolate cake very similar to a brownie with a soft centre.
All desserts are SEK45, served with cream and raspberries. The kladdkaka on the second-last shelf are all vegan <3
The Decor:
If I could sum it up in a single phrase, the decor would be cosy, yet spacious! The seating area is quite large and stretches around the counter like a maze. It's mostly hodge-podge tables and mis-matched chairs and decorations that give the place it's charming yet rustic look. Everything comes together to create a relaxed and very laid-back environment, perfect for fika!

I enjoyed the experience of eating kladdkaka! I took a gamble and chose the liquorice flavoured one, even though I'm not a huge liquorice eater but I definitely don't mind the taste - it was more like a chocolate brownie with hints of liquorice dotted throughout. The complementary mix of the kladdkaka, cream and raspberries was perfect - I wouldn't advise eating them separately or excluding one element. I always find the vegan creams a bit too coconutty - this wasn't an exception but the raspberries were a good balance between the cream and brownie in terms of flavour and texture. Ebbas Skafferi is a great place to go for a Swedish dessert with a familiar taste.
If I were to come here next time I'd probably try the original kladdkaka or the one with a kind of chocolate frosting on top (that is very chocolate-y I hear), or I'd try to order food off their menu!
Also pro tip: Since I ordered a vegan dessert option, I got a 20% voucher off their co-owned restaurant, the Herbivore (!!!) so I guess I'll be heading back there again sometime soon!
