VGs welcomes you to a night in Swedish International spirit! "Fettisdagen" is one of the best and tastiest das of the year, where we enjoy the famous Swedish cream bun "Semla". This is the bakery from which the Swedish king Adolf Fredrik allegedly ate himself to death! Don't you want to know why??
Pssssst. We also offer vegan and gluten-free semlor!
Participation is subject to availability, so be there in good time!
P.S. Fettisdagen is actually celebrated on the 5th March so you will have to opportunity to celebrate twice. Tasty news, huh? [Transcribed from Facebook event page].
Time: 17:30
Location: Västgöta Nation (Metro Bar)

The set up!
The event was crowded! Good thing I got there at 17:15 because the spaces filled up really quickly. There wasn't any baking, but the students working at the nation brought out bread, paste, cream and you basically queued at the table to put the semla together.
Lining up!
Vegan semla bread (yay!) - the "regular" uses cow milk
You take the bread, cut it in half and remove some of the bread from the middle of the bottom slice. You then fill the small cavity with the almond paste before topping with cream and then done!
Decadently sweet almond paste
Vegan cream! Pretty sure this is oat-based
Semla building in process
The finished product! Love me some vegan semla
In summary: good idea, but if I had to experience it again I'd definitely go with friends than go solo. The atmosphere at VGs is definitely targeted towards groups of people who already know each other rather than people just wanting to casually chill and meet new people. The tables make it difficult for the after-"baking" board games to be fully inclusive. On the plus side, you can feast on vegan (and regular) semla till your heart's content, since they provide a lot and cater to vegans!
