Lund Insider: MovEat

What is MovEat? $$ - $$$
MovEat is an event where you get to walk (or bike!) around at your own pace, sampling food prepared and provided from 10 vendors. Today's event started at Kulturen: tickets (QR codes, emailed to you) were scanned before you received a wristband and map. The event / tour takes about four hours.

Price: SEK349 per person

Verdict: Would 100% recommend! MovEat is hosted in different cities throughout Sweden and I found out about the event in Lund through a Swedish friend of mine who's colleague went to the event in Malmö. It would be preferable to go with friends - I went with two Swedish friends from Critical Animal Studies (go vegan solidarity!) and exploring Lund together made the experience just that little bit more memorable.

Fun Facts: 27/400 vegans registered for the event in Lund - the vegan options keep getting better each year and more and more people are opting for the plant-based food alternative!

The Menu: (Swedish only - I've attempted to translate the vegan food options as best as I can!)

Start: Kulturens Restaurang & Konferens
Yellow beetroot, soybean topped with onion

RekoDeli:
Non-vegan option: kimchi and marmalade spread

Vegan Option:
Exciting! Both spread topped on black sesame biscuits
Creamy olive spread topped with Spanish almond
 Smoky eggplant/aubergine relish with basil

Ingelsta Turkey:
The set up: looks so colourful!
Double marinated tofu with Bulgar salad and cloudberry cream
This was probably my least favourite out of the whole tour - the food wasn't as flavourful or as punchy as the other options. It was also a little uncomfortable walking and eating at a butchery.

Holmgreslund (at the Market Hall)
Bruchetta: grilled sourdough bread topped with grilled artichoke and semi sundried tomatoes and shredded orange atop a bed of salad (rocket + spinach) with balsamic vinegar sauce

Farmshack BBQ (at the Market Hall)
Death-Free Mac n Cheese: topped with hot/spicy beans

Teahouse Java:
Seed cracker, salted liquorice and dark chocolate
The setup at Skissernas - the vibe was very posh and pretentious though AHAHA
Crispy buckwheat cracker topped with grilled champion mushrooms, fermented mustard seeds and garden cress

Vespa: (choice of two dishes!)
 Aubergine and zucchini pasta
Vegan pizza - capsicum, leek, asparagus and basil atop tomato sauce

Food & Distillate
My favourite plate of the day: white asparagus, served with "sooty" tofu, toasted sunflower seeds served with rapeseed oil

Chocolaterie Hovby No 9:
This gorgeous deli is tucked away in a little niche nook in the centre of Lund!
Selection of chocolates both vegan and non-vegan
My choice: raspberry dark chocolate praline
