The inspiration for the title of this post comes from Anna Tsing's Arts of Inclusion: Or How to Love a Mushroom which you can read here!
Spotted on a suburban sidewalk
Writing this blog has slowed considerably since the Orientation Weeks - I guess a combination of assignment deadlines, P3 courses ending and P4 subjects starting and that routine of settling in and just living life somewhat regularly has contributed to the less "wow" or novel posts. I also think it's one of the main dangers of what the Global Society calls "settling in to your host country": where you just start living, well, normally - which of course is bound to happen eventually - but in doing so, become complacent and stop noticing, or marvelling at the world around you.
I had this realisation yesterday where I thought, my family hasn't seen the blankets of Spring flowers that pop up on the sidewalk, or photos of the Botanical Gardens where the ponds aren't frozen over. It's warm, and sunny! As I write, outside it's reaching 17 C (!! the warmest it's ever been while I've been here! - then again, I've gotten used to it - 12 C is a comfortable temperature now, I even have to shed my heavy puffer jacket when I'm out). [Queue "What Time Is It" number here, even though it's not quite summer time yet.]
Anyway, I'm getting off-track: I made it my mission to slow down when walking and just notice, or be open to noticing bright specks of colour that come through in the Springtime here in Lund. Enjoy!
Spotted on the way to the Botanic Gardens, but I've started to notice more and more trees just dotted around Lund after looking closely at this one!
Cherry blossoms! In the Botanical Garden
Mistletoe! One of two trees in the Botanic Gardens. What a cool parasitic plant LOL
A few metres from the Main Entrance of the Botanical Garden
Spotted underneath someone's garden hedge
Fancy research institute located 3 minutes walk from the Botanical Gardens. I adore those windows!
